Work is indeed quite realistic, but a more engaging composition may have worked better. The cigar and ashtray both pull attention for their strong contrast with the felt surface, which conflicts with the cards that seem to be the intended focus of the composition. Addition of chips was good, only in this composition they draw attention back to the cigar and ashtray. Stacking some chips with some of different amounts and colors may have added to the scene. A bit of yellowing to the cards would have fit nicely with the cigar. Over a good job.

Everybody, thank you very much for all your comments!!! they are very appreciated...
loneorbit: As I said in the description of this work, it was a commission. The commission was to be inspired by the work of Michael Goddard (see linked reference please). There was also the fact that I had very small freedom to change things, like the composition. I took the liberty to add some more chips in the bottom, as I thought necessary, trying not to leave an empty hole there, since I also thought about a more realistic smoke than Goddard's. I believe the cards draw a lot of attention since they are of a higher key than the other elements, and well, they give a lot of contrast to your eye as soon as you see them (definitively more than the ashtray-felt contrast).
It's true, the chips are slightly used as visual "bridges" in order to carry you from the cards to the ashtray, although the cards drive you to the ashtray as well, giving it also importance.
Stacking some chips with different color would have not only changed the original color concept, but also would have given a lot of importance to the chips, and consecuently would have pulled you out of the picture, i believe, because of their position. I appreciate very much your review. Thank you!

regarding the Title, I think it would suit if it wasnt a ROYAL FLUSH but one card away from it.. I would like it if you swapped the 10 for say 2 spades, "so near but so far"

Great render..

Thanks again for all your comments & votes!!!!
Almost-Human - Haha! I think your right! Well.... to tell you the truth, the work didn't have a title (this commision didn't need to be titled). I'm an extremely big fan of Texas Hold'em, and when I thought of getting it up to GFX, I started thinking about a title for it, probably thinking about what Poker is to me.... and I thought, "It's a passion for me, but a very very dangerous one"... hehehe

Well if you could get a few of those hands above you could give up 3D :)

Hahaha!! Good one!.... but I tell you.... 3D is also a passion for me.... I don't think I'll ever stop doing 3D and art!

excellent work here. everything looks just perfect, you did a superb job. although i'd say that it's perhaps a little too clean to look completely real, but actually that goes well with the concept and the theme

Once again, oustanding job! The models, textures, lighting, etc., are just awesome! I even like the soft focus look that the cards have on the felt. Amazing!

Overall good work. Little touches could enhance it. Like adding ashes in the ashtray, a AO for the chips, dirtying up the felt cloth with drink spills and burns, plus toning down the glow effect or softness of the overall composition. Good texturing work otherwise.

Thanks again for all your comments!!
Gavade, killadore, Hooperized: Thanks... it's true.... perhaps dirtying it a little bit could make it look more realistic.... :)
