loneorbit: As I said in the description of this work, it was a commission. The commission was to be inspired by the work of Michael Goddard (see linked reference please). There was also the fact that I had very small freedom to change things, like the composition. I took the liberty to add some more chips in the bottom, as I thought necessary, trying not to leave an empty hole there, since I also thought about a more realistic smoke than Goddard's. I believe the cards draw a lot of attention since they are of a higher key than the other elements, and well, they give a lot of contrast to your eye as soon as you see them (definitively more than the ashtray-felt contrast).
It's true, the chips are slightly used as visual "bridges" in order to carry you from the cards to the ashtray, although the cards drive you to the ashtray as well, giving it also importance.
Stacking some chips with different color would have not only changed the original color concept, but also would have given a lot of importance to the chips, and consecuently would have pulled you out of the picture, i believe, because of their position. I appreciate very much your review. Thank you!

Gavade, killadore, Hooperized: Thanks... it's true.... perhaps dirtying it a little bit could make it look more realistic....
