One thing disturbs me. That you cut it off on the left side and left below. According to me is not made to need would be there to cut.
But cool job!

NIKa: The color of gold depends on the treatment of the material I think. Here's a link on different gold colors: http://www.seawear.com/jewelry/anchors.html (there are some below with a whiter tone
Phos: 3D programs try as a general to simulate real life in many aspects. So, inside the program, you use a virtual camera, which lets you manipulate things such as Focal Length, Aperture Width and DOF.
piciART: The reason I did this, was because I didn't want a big white shape that would form in the left-bottom left part of the image if I didn't crop it like that.. I wanted to focus in an interesting composition as If I was taking a macro photography with a real camera, and also, as you can see, every side of the picture has a part of a clover touching it, giving it a little more balance.

Although the objects do not have the most elaborate shapes, your choice of lighting and textures are great
Lovely composition too

Only one thing that could improve realism... what about adding caustics? Do cinema 4d support caustics?

texel: Yes... C4D supports caustics... actually I did a render with caustics first. But I didn't like the way they came up, so I did it without them. (they looked like a mistake instead of an improvement)
